Chapman pupil Jack Anderson tells the story of an opportunity encounter between two mining robots on a desolate planet.
The lovable robotic protagonist seems like one thing Disney may provide you with. However then, the animation takes a flip, turning into a metaphor for greed and self-sabotage, rooted in irony and futility.
"My greatest inspiration for the story was to indicate how us people are always ruining relationships over the smallest issues," Anderson mentioned. "That is one thing everybody's executed so I wished to encapsulate it in a really contained fable. It finally ends up being a fairly common factor individuals can connect with."
Wire Cutters went on to win a slew of awards -- even turning into a finalist for a Scholar Academy Award.
